Herland Report TV (HTV) had the pleasure to sit down with Norway’s only war journalist who has been in and out of Syria throughout the conflict. She was just returning from Damascus, where she spent time with some of the West’s leading journalists and experts on Syria.  Watch the program here or at the end of this article.

Eva Thomassen is a Norwegian sociologist, one of the leading Scandinavian war reporters and anti-war activists, who previously lived and worked in Syria.

When the conflict first started in Syria, Thomassen was intrigued to find out which driving forces lay behind the development of war in a peaceful country such as Syria, and began returning to the country in order to find out.

She has been at the battle front, spoken to soldiers, doctors, ministers, generals, regular Syrians about the complexity of what is going on. She was in East Aleppo shortly after the Syrian Arab Army conquered the city, reporting on how the Western backed mercinaries left in busses to Idlib with their families and totally covered wives.

Thomassen has again been in Syria, examining what actually happened in East Ghouta, speaking to various sources on the ground.

Thomassen states: “When the so-called Arab Spring started in 2011, I felt that something was wrong. I felt that this was not the Syria I knew, this is not the Libya I know. I kept in contact with Syrian journalists and friends in Syria, went there in 2015 onward. And when you hear Saudi Arabia and Qatar talk about implementing democracy in Syria, you instantly know something is wrong. These places are among the least democratic in the world.”

“The mainstream media in the West is used as a weapon in these conflicts. The journalist should be critical, but they are not. The main question is why are the journalists not reporting objectively?”

“It’s a mix between weapons, military interventions, the use of NGOs, not only in the media propaganda, but in the warfare. And then there is the use of sanctions against Syria. They are making up stories that have nothing to do with reality and using the NGOs for warfare on several levels.”

The Herland Report is a Scandinavian initiative, reaching millions yearly, presenting leading intellectuals’ view on foreign policy, current affairs, religion, the Middle East, Western decadence – free from the censoring political correctness that now permeate Western media and its political propaganda.
