Herland Report TV (HTV): “Increasingly the world sees that Putin is the world leader now. What the neo-con movement has achieved is the destruction of Western Hegemony and the respect for the West,” states Dr. Paul Craig Roberts on Putin leader of the World.
He is chairman of The Institute for Political Economy, former editor of Wall Street Journal and a well-known author of many books.
He is awarded the Treasury Department’s Meritorious Service Award for “his outstanding contributions to the formulation of United States economic policy.
Roberts further states that: “The West is eclipsed as the leadership of civilization, of economic dominance. People won’t look to the West anymore. That is changing, and it’s the fault of the West.”
“Most of it comes back to the unleashing of the neo-conservative ideology, of American hegemony which resulted from the collapse of the Soviet Union. That removed the counter veiling power that forced the US to still think more broadly, it was faced with a force it could not move aside. You couldn’t unleash this self-interest greed that now characterizes the US, because it would doom you.”
“Once the Soviet Union collapsed, there was no more countervailing power. So now, we rule. As the old saying goes “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. And the US held absolute power since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and until the rise of Putin.”
